If you’ve ever dreamed of setting sail across the vast, open seas, exploring the rugged coastlines of Northern Europe, and immersing yourself in the untamed beauty of the polar regions, then the Karukinka sailing voyages are calling your name. Originating from memorable journeys aboard the sailboat Gojira in the Bay of Biscay, our (bilingual French/English) sailing coach Damien Treutenaere’s cruise school has evolved, now offering training under the flag of the Karukinka association, aboard SV Milagro.
Milagro: Your Floating Base Camp
The Milagro, a 65-foot (20 m) Bruce Roberts steel ketch rigger, boasts an impressive resume with two world tours under her belt. Designed with the chilly Northern European waters in mind, this Swedish-constructed vessel is fully insulated, heated, and equipped with 5 cabins accommodating up to 8 guests alongside the crew. This floating base camp is ready to welcome aboard those eager to learn, explore, and create unforgettable memories.
2024 Voyages: Ireland, Scotland, Norway, and Beyond
This spring, set your sights on the emerald shores of Ireland and the mystical landscapes of Scotland. As summer approaches, venture north to Norway, where the midnight sun bathes the Arctic Circle in endless daylight. Come autumn, come on board Milagro for an expedition to Greenland before sailing from Iceland via the west coast of Ireland, concluding the year’s adventures in Nantes at the pontoon Belem for the winter of 2024-2025.
Learning with Karukinka
Under the guidance of seasoned skipper Damien Treutenaere and his second, Sébastien, Karukinka offers a unique educational experience. Founded in 2014 with a focus on polar explorations, Karukinka is affiliated with the Fédération Française de Voile and the Fédération Française de Randonnée, ensuring our voyages are not only adventures but also opportunities for training, research, and creative endeavors.
Sail Away on the Journey of a Lifetime
The Karukinka team are excited to welcome old friends and new adventurers aboard Milagro for these epic voyages. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or a curious beginner, there’s a place for you aboard. Together, sailors will navigate the storied waters of Dublin, Oban, the Hebrides, Orcade, Shetland, and beyond, crossing the mythical North Cape and experiencing the natural wonders of the Arctic.
