As an affiliate of the French Sailing Federation, Karukinka Exploration offers comprehensive training in sailing aboard a fully equipped ocean-going vessel that has completed two circumnavigations.

Tailored to your aspirations and leveraging our team’s expertise, you will:

– learn essential safety principles for navigating and living aboard a yacht,

– gain insights into relevant disciplines such as meteorology and basic physics related to vessel operation,

– actively engage in various manoeuvres including sail adjustments, helming, changing tack, mooring, and knot tying,

– acquire skills to effectively use onboard electronics like VHF radio, chart plotters, autopilots, depth sounders, anemometers, radar, and Navtex,

– develop a diverse skill set to ensure your independence in long-distance cruising, covering areas such as mechanical and electrical systems, equipment maintenance and repair, regulatory compliance, and documentary resources.

In this context, we provide and validate your sailing logbooks recognised by the French Sailing Federation, which are also acknowledged by numerous international sailing clubs, aiding in your pursuit of a boating license.

A truly enriching experience, a complete change of scenery

∗∗∗∗∗

Milagro offers a wonderfully enjoyable and exceptionally comfortable sailing experience, allowing you to explore the joys of cruising under sail in the best possible conditions, whether you are a beginner or an experienced sailor. 👍

Lauriane and Damien provide exemplary hospitality, demonstrating a high level of professionalism as they take the time to explain and demystify the basics of sailing, ensuring that your time on board is truly memorable.

And let’s not forget Toupie, the canine first mate, who will keep an eye on your maneuvers while eagerly inviting you to play with her in appreciation. 😉

François P., April 2024

If passion leads to madness, I can say that these two are crazy. Embark with them and you will become one too

∗∗∗∗∗

Their passion for sharing knowledge, experiences, and the thrill of discovery is boundless. With Milagro, they have a splendid sailing vessel perfectly suited for these adventures, so do not hesitate to join them; their expertise guarantees your satisfaction.

A passionate team with very complementary skills

∗∗∗∗∗

The boat is incredibly comfortable and well-maintained, offering immense potential for study and skill development with the equipment on board. When it comes to navigation, the design of the sailing vessel combined with the skipper’s polar experience opens up limitless opportunities for exploration. We not only learn how to sail but also gain a deeper understanding of our beautiful planet, empowering us to better protect it. Long live Karukinka.

Barbara C., March 2024

I have just spent an extraordinary week aboard Milagro

∗∗∗∗∗

Having never set foot on a boat before, Lauriane and Damien were able to create a climate of trust through their expertise and kindness. Their patience and kindness allowed us to participate fully in the life of the boat, which made the experience even more enriching.

But beyond the maritime discoveries, this trip was a human encounter.

This experience was incredibly refreshing. A healthy connection with nature.

Anne-Marie L., April 2024

My wife and I had a fabulous time onboard this stunning boat

∗∗∗∗∗

The crew were fantastic and extremely proficient, attentive and wonderful company. The food was really enjoyable and a beautiful interior and comfortable accommodation makes this boat the perfect holiday in which to travel and learn more about sailing. Our hosts are very knowledgeable and experienced sailors and we learned a lot. We look forward to our next holiday aboard!

David, June 2024

Magnificent boat

∗∗∗∗∗

Thanks to Lauriane and Damien, my partner and I were able to improve our level of navigation, on the one hand, but also learn a whole part of history unknown to us!

Lots of travel stories to tell, ideas to exchange,… our two captains are very open-minded and cultured, a very enriching moment that leaves you dreaming of other adventures aboard Milagro!

Thanks again, see you soon I hope!

Clément S., June 2024

A discovery snack that captivated our children (and us!)

∗∗∗∗∗

Lauriane and Damien welcomed us for a Milagro discovery snack with our children. They knew how to captivate them with their knowledge and their pleasure of sharing. We adults were just as captivated!
We wish them the best for their expeditions and do not hesitate to go part of the way with them, the adventure can only be enriching.
A little extra crush on Toupie wink

Maud M., February 2024

A journey and learning to navigate not to be missed under any circumstances

∗∗∗∗∗

Sailing on Milagro is a meeting with Damien, a huge, passionate sailor, very professional and reassuring. With his partner they venture into distant and wild places… there are many left to visit.
Laurent C., June 2024

Damien and Lauriane couldn't be better skippers and hosts for adventure sailing

∗∗∗∗∗

Our family is pursuing our own sailing dreams now thanks to the adventures we’ve shared and sailing skills we’ve learned through Karukinka.
Being multilingual meant that our mixed language (French/English) family felt comfortable and safe.
Lauriane’s scientific and artistic research work is fascinating and we are happy to be continually learning about the wider world around us thanks to her and Damien.
You will not regret embarking on an adventure with Karukinka and we can’t wait to join them again someday soon.
Angie R., May 2022

Awesome trip with Lauriane and Damien, the boat is very safe, even in rough weather.

∗∗∗∗∗

That the two of them have multiple skills is an added-bonus that made the trip very rich. Lessons in geography, sound and listening with Lauriane, how to read the wind, the sky and the waves with Damien (who is also a wonderful chef). The boat is very safe, even in rough weather. Amazing memories, and I really hope to be able to join them at the North Cape, or at the Cape Horn. Thank you so much.

Early in the morning, we raise anchor at the still and at a few cable lengths from Castle Moy on Loch Buie (Isle of Mull). In this loch facing south-west, last night was moderately pleasant, due to a small swell from the south that came before the wind forecast in the...

[#7 – Ireland – Scotland 2024] From Loch Melfort to isle of Mull, via the Firth of Lorn

It is after a superb stopover made up of encounters as beautiful as the surrounding landscapes that we leave Loch Melfort to head towards the south of Mull Island. To do this, several options exist and we choose that of Cuan Sound, a (fairly) narrow channel separating...

[#6 – Ireland – Scotland 2024] Stopover at Loch Melfort

It was at the end of the day that we arrived quietly under sail at the eastern end of Loch Melfort, dropping anchor in a very sticky muddy bottom (for the chain and the bridge too, by the way…). As soon as we arrive, Damien receives a call from one of his friends and...

[#5 Ireland – Scotland 2024] from Jura to Loch Melfort, via the Corryvreckan

Sheltered in a loch on the west coast of Jura, we let the bad weather pass and took advantage of the stopover to hike on land, read and rest. The generally ocher vegetation at the end of winter is currently undergoing spring change and is gradually turning green. The...
